Trader level part 2

Trader level part 2

If you are not very familiar with trader levels and outposts, I recommend reading part 1 before going on. It will help you get an understanding on how they work, and why they are important.

What follows is a description of popular strategies, with some notes on advantages, disadvantages, and other notes I felt were necessary. After these are some formulas to help you make some decisions on what strategy is best for you.

Option 1)Three times your trader level with all 3 hour outposts:

Advantages: fastest way to raise your trader level.

Disadvantages: Amount collected is fairly nominal.

Other notes: I used this strategy when I realized that I had severely neglected my trader skill (was a level 25 player with a level 10 trader skill)
and also realized I needed to get it caught up if I was ever going to get enough supplies to upgrade all these weapons and armor. Other than this kind of drastic need, I don’t really recommend it.

Option 2) Two and one half (2.5) times your trader level in your largest possible outpost:

Advantages: this is the point at which you get the most return from your outposts.

Disadvantages: Very few collections means your trader level will quickly start falling behind your overall level.

Option 3) Three times your trader level in your largest outposts:

Advantages: The increase in the number of outposts collected from verses option 2 will help slow down the growing spread between your trader level and your overall level but not by much.

Disadvantages: The penalties cause you to get less total supplies per collection than option 2, but also not by much (formulas and examples at end)

Option 4) Have two times your trader level in max outposts and one times your trader level in 3 hr outposts.

Advantages: You get a decent number of collections from your outposts to keep your trader level going up, and if you sell the 3 hr posts before collecting on your max sized posts, your supply collection is only slightly less than what you get from collecting on 2.5 times your level (again formulas and examples are at the end)

Disadvantages: although cash is usually easier to get later on, this can kind of still get expensive since you only get 25% of the purchase price back when you sell. Plus you have to spend the time selling (and then rebuying) the 3 hour outposts every other day (assuming you have 48hr outposts).

Other notes: a couple of variations is the 2.5 times your trader level in max outposts and one half your trader level in 3 hr outposts.

Okay, let’s get to some formulas you can use to figure the amount of supplies you will get every two days, as well as the number of outposts you will collect from every two days.

The following formulas assume your max sized outposts are 48 hr posts with 1200 supplies every 2 days before penalties. They also assume that due to real life issues (like sleep) you will only get 6 collections per day from 3hr outposts.

Simply replace the t in the formulas with your current trader level. After each formula is an example of someone’s results if you have a trader level of 30.

Option 1) three times trader level with all 3hr outposts:

Supplies=180t
Collections=36t
So a player with trader level 30 will get 5400 supplies every two days and will make 1080 collections

Option 2) Two and one half times trader level in 48hr outposts.

Supplies: 1880t
Collections: 2.5t
So in comparison a player with skill level 30 gets 56,400 supplies every two days but only makes 75 outpost collections.

Option 3) Three times trader level in 48hr outposts.

Supplies:1869t
Collections:3t
Level 30 gets 56,070 in supplies and makes 90 collections.

Option 4a) Two times level 48 hr outposts with trader level in 3 hr outposts.

If you sell your 3 hr outposts prior to collecting your 48hr outposts.

Supplies: 1870t
Collections: 14t
Level 30 gets 56100 supplies and makes 420 collections every two days, but loses $5,625 every two days from selling and rebuying 3 hr outposts

If you don’t sell your 3 hr outposts you get:

Supplies:1306
Collections:14t
Level 30 gets 39180 supplies and makes 420 collections every two days.

Option 4b) 2.5 times trader level in 48hr outposts and one half trader level in 3hr outposts

If you sell your 3 hr outposts prior to collecting your 48hr outposts.

Supplies: 1940t
Collections:8.5t
Level 30 gets 58200 supplies and makes 255 collections at a cost of $2,812.5 every time you sell and rebuy outposts

If you don’t sell

Supplies:1276t
Collections:8.5t
Level 30 gets 38280 supplies and gets 255 collections every two days.
